記念スタンプ (kinen stamp) means memorial stamp. It usually refers to a rubber stamp that was made to mark a special occasion or place of interest. In Japan and Taiwan they conduct kinen stamp rallies where people collect these stamps to promote travel sites and encourage people to visit.
The design of the stamps are usually representative of what the place is famous for or in the case of commemorative stamps what they want to commemorate.
I like to collect them because it serves as a reminder of where I have been and what was so special about that place. My collection are mostly from Japan and Taiwan as these are the two countries with widespread use of rubber stamps in travel sites.
In this site I hope to showcase my collection and offer a bit of a travel guide through the kinen stamps.
